PROGRAMME


HIGHER SECONDARY

 

(i) Compulsory Subjects: English, MIL or Alternative English.

(ii) Elective Subjects: Any Four from the following subjects are to be selected Three of them being compulsory.

ADVANCED ASSAMESE, ECONOMICS, EDUCATION, HISTORY, HOME SCIENCE, POLITICAL SCIENCE,  SANSKRIT AND SOCIOLOGY.

UNDER GRADUATE

 

B.A. SEMESTER COURSE:

The course leading to B.A. degree will be pursued over a period of three years divided into 6 (six) Semester.  The intake capacity for the session 2015-16 as per the decision taken by the academic committee meeting held on 29th April, 2015 is 350 (including Major and Non-Major). The selection process will be completely based on Merit cum reservation policy.

B.1: SUBJECTS OF STUDY FOR B.A. (ARTS) GENERAL COURSE:
(i) (a) English is compulsory
(b) Environmental Studies is compulsory (Semester-IV)
(c) Multidisciplinary Studies is compulsory (Semester-IV)
(d) Among the Modern Indian Languages options are available for Assamese, Hindi & Bodo.
(e) Alternative English can be offered in lieu of MIL.
(ii) Core Subjects: A student without Major shall select Two of the following subjects:
ECONOMICS, EDUCATION, HISTORY, HOME SCIENCE, POLITICAL SCIENCE, SANSKRIT, SOCIOLOGY AND ELECTIVE ASSAMESE.

 

B. 2:  B. A. ARTS MAJOR COURSE:
(a) English and MIL is compulsory.
(b) Alternative English can be offered in lieu of MIL.
(c) Among the Modern Indian Language options are available for Assamese, Hindi & Bodo.
(d) A student having Major course may take any One of the following subject as a Core subject.
ECONOMICS, EDUCATION, HISTORY, HOME SCIENCE, POLITICAL SCIENCE,   SANSKRIT, SOCIOLOGY AND ELECTIVE ASSAMESE.
(e) Environmental Studies and Multidisciplinary Studies are compulsory (Semester-IV).

B.3: The Major subjects offered by the college and the Intake Capacity as per the decisions taken in the Academic Committee Meeting of the college held on 29th April,2015 are given below.
ASSAMESE: 40

The selection criteria of Seats in Major Course: As per the reservation policy of the Govt. of India.

 

B.4: Students taking up in English and Assamese may note the following:

(i) A student offering English as Major subject shall be required to take another Core subject (not involving practical) to be termed as Core II besides taking General English and MIL.
(ii) A student offering Assamese as Major subject must take General English, MIL/Alt. English and One Core subject as Core II

VOCATIONAL COURSE

 

The following Vocational Courses are available for students.
(a) Food Processing and Food Preservation.

(b) Beauty Therapy and Hair Dressing.

(c) Spoken English.

(d) Cutting & Tailoring.

(e) Poultry Management.

(ii) Diploma in Computer Application (DCA), 6 (six) month course.

ANY OF THE ABOVE VOCATIONAL/DIPLOMA COURSES IS COMPULSORY FOR THE STUDENTS OF B.A. 1st SEMESTER: Course fee is Rs 1000 only.

OTHER COURSE

 

 

EPOCH MAKING THINKARS:
The college has set up the following Study Centers with the financial assistance from UGC. The Centers offer regular classes for the interested students on various issues that dwell on the multidimensional significance of the epoch making thinkers. International and National Seminars, talks, workshops are organized occasionally.

(i) Buddhist Studies Center.
(ii) Gandhian Studies Center.
(iii) Siu-ka-pha Studies Center.

K.K.H. STATE OPEN UNIVERSITY:
The college has a center of K.K.H. State Open University in the college campus. This will help the economically underprivileged as well as school/college drop-outs to continue their studies so that they can earn different degrees such as B.A., B.C.A., and B.P.P. from this college.

DISTANCE EDUCATION:
The college has a center of distance education under Dibrugarh University.  The center opened Post Graduate Course (M.A.) under distance mode from the academic year 2013-2014.
